Having grown up with a father who owns his own business, Brittany recognized firsthand the important role lawyers play within businesses. Whether it’s drafting and reviewing contracts or giving advice on a specific area of law, a lawyer can be extremely valuable to any business. This is what aspired Brittany to go to law school.
Brittany attended the University of Cincinnati to obtain her undergraduate degree. In 2016, she graduated from UC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, along with minors in Accounting and Psychology. Later that fall, she started law school at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. While in law school, Brittany focused her studies on business law, taking a number of courses including Legal Drafting, Securities Law, Corporate Transactions, Real Estate Transactions, and others. She was a member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review where she served as an Associate Member and a Citations Editor. Throughout law school, Brittany expanded her legal knowledge and experience through her work and educational opportunities.
After her first year of law school, she interned with UC’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic where she drafted contracts for small businesses, mainly start-ups. She drafted a variety of legal documents, including Operating Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Service Agreements, and Employment Agreements. During her second year of law school, she participated in a legal externship with AK Steel’s in-house counsel where she prepared memorandums on an array of employment law matters. In her final year of law school, she interned with The Kroger Co.’s in-house counsel where she focused largely on employment law, but also assisted Kroger’s in-house counsel with other issues pertaining to health care law, real estate law, employee benefits law, and liquor law.
